Press Release:
Rainbow Trout Fishing To Resume at Lake Fairfax Park
Grab your gear and join in the fun and excitement of fishing for rainbow trout at Lake FairfaxPark this spring. The Park Authority will operate the trout stocking program exclusively at Lake Fairfax Park this year. The season will run from February 18 through April 29, 2011. Stocking dates are set for February 18, March 4, March 18, April 1 and April 15.
Anglers wishing to get in on some trout fishing action can do so from the shores of Lake Fairfax between 7 a.m. and dusk. Season pass prices for those 16 years of age and older are $45; anglers between ages 6-15 and 64 years of age and older are just $40. Daily pass prices for those 16 and older are $12; ages 6-15 and 64 years old and older at $6. Passes can be purchased at the park.
Under the Park Authority trout fishing program, all Virginia game and fishing laws apply, including a six fish daily limit, and the requirement for those 16 years and older to carry a current Virginia fishing license. In addition, all persons fishing in the park’s stocked waters must comply with the rules of the trout fishing program. This includes the requirement to purchase a park fishing pass prior to fishing, displaying a fishing pass at all times, abiding by the one pole per person rule and all other rules outlined on the pass. A state-issued trout stamp is not required because the Park Authority’s trout stocking program is not funded by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
Lake Fairfax Park is located at 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive in Reston, VA. For more information, call 703-471-5415
