Bass Recon - Rappahannock

When we were down at Motts, I could not resist pulling over to check out the Rapp.  As you can see from the map, it is just a stones throw from Motts.

There are two places you can get at the river to wade fish.  You can jump right in at the boat launch at the bottom of the hill leading to Motts, or you can go down the road a bit to a bigger turnout.  At the turnout, we saw a number of other cars, but it looked like most of these people were wading and swimming, not fishing - so this might be a good spot.

Note on the map that it has the symbol for rapids - there may be some pretty good smallie action among all the rocks.

Bottom line:  Looks good - I'll check this out some weekend when I don't have the time to drive farther out.

Getting There:  In Fredericksburg, from I-95 Exit 130-B west, continue on Route 3 (Plank Road) approximately 0.5 mile; turn right on Route 639 (Bragg Road) and go about one mile to River Road. Turn left on Route 618 (River Road).  River Road leads to these spots.

Don't be tempted to go to Motts Run... you have to pay and the time we were there, the pressure was intense.

View looking downstream from the parking area - note that there appears to be plenty of nice structure - weeds, rocks, bunch of stuff.
