"I have been fly fishing for a while and can honestly say your book is the most useful and easy to read fly fishing guide book I have encountered." - Sean W.
“Love the book! The best piece of equipment I've bought in a long time. – Barb A.”
This book walks the 30 miles upstream from Westernport, MD to Wilson, WV using words, annotated maps and over 140 pictures to provide you exact references while removing any doubt about what to expect in each section of the river. You can see exactly what is there before you make the long drive.
Other books leave you at the public access point with a pat on the back and general words of wisdom. This eBook gets you to the same place using exceptionally detailed directions with pictures of the turns where you are likely to get lost and then continues onto the river. Steve tells you where to go, shows pictures along the way, and identifies the key locations that you should target.
Beyond the view of the river, we also explain the water flow conditions that must be met for the river to be fishable. We include over 61 tables in the eBook that include the minimum and maximum water flow and temperature conditions; critical information to use prior to planning a trip. We don't want you to show up, excited about fishing this great body of water, and stare at a blown out river as a result of high flow conditions.
Of course, the eBook also includes stocking info (hot linked to Google maps), gear guidance, best flies and lures to use and brings all of this together in a "Best Time" to fish chapter.
You can only put so much in a book. For those that want more, we include detailed information on the major guide operations that can take you to the right rock at the right time with the right lure. Run out of tippet? We list the fly shops close to the river for that emergency resupply as well as some major resorts that can keep the non-anglers entertained while you stand happily in 56 degree water!

We rate each section using a standard rating table. This allows you to get a high level feel for the section driven by your personal level of tolerance for either a tough walk using a map to reach the best spots or easy access on a gentle path.
Since the regulations vary considerably depending on where you fish, we always include a summary prior to launching into the detailed directions.
Each location includes an annotated driving map overlaid on a USGS Topo map - no sketchy hand drawings. While the directions are very detailed and complete (with pictures if needed), the Topo map provides additional detail on landmarks if you need them.
Once you reach the access point using the driving directions, we shift gears and walk the stream using another annotated topo map. We mark the key areas we discuss and the primary associated pictures have the GPS coordinates hot-linked to Google so you can trigger the satellite view for a broader perspective.
As the most comprehensive guide to the North Branch ever written, this book can be the difference between wasting time and having a great time!
